Aster Long Beach

Vision

Aster is a transit oriented mixed use development in the heart of downtown Long Beach designed to celebrate the neighborhood’s rich, eclectic style through a fusion of industrial and contemporary materials and finishes complemented with modern Art Deco touches. Our vision aimed to strike a balance between an architecture that respects its historic neighbors, including the abutting brick arts and culture center, and one that sits prominently at this lively street corner next to the city’s light rail line. We accomplished this by integrating traditional materials of brick and concrete in unique massing and facade language that creates an enjoyable street presence for pedestrians.

Interiors are enlivened with custom curated murals commissioned from local artists. Residents have access to luxurious amenities such as communal and private work spaces, multiple lounges with coffee bars, an indoor dog parklet, a bike storage room with repair equipment, a spacious and stylish fitness center, a roof top outdoor lounge and dining area with BBQ stations, and a generous courtyard and pool deck around which the entire building is organized. This courtyard carves through the site and creates a portal between the residences and the surrounding urban environment, breaking the barrier between private and public realms.
