In The News |

Having been involved in the NAIOP San Diego University Challenge for 5 years, CJ+C representatives Amber Lake and John Martinez mentored and helped to create the WINNING design with Team UCSD! View the video and see the project’s design details.

NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, provides students across the nation with an opportunity in the form of a competition. Students address issues such as financing, sustainable development, market analysis, affordable housing, site design, transit-oriented development, community benefit, entitlements, feasibility and investment returns within their design proposal. Once complete, students present their design submission to a judging panel of senior level commercial real estate professionals as well as industry leaders, university faculty members and fellow students.

The 2021 winning design was named CHI which stands for Culture Health and Innovation and the overall goal was to “enhance the quality of life for residents, businesses and the community.” CHI is a mixed use development combining high-tech office, residential, a food park, and amenitized open spaces.
