San Diego May Create Gaslamp Promenade Pedestrian Plaza

In The News |

Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, Kimley-Horn and the Gaslamp Quarter Association are collaborating to create a vision for an eight-block pedestrian plaza in the Nationally registered Historic Gaslamp Quarter.   When the project is complete, Fifth Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic between Broadway and L Street (except for morning servicing of the neighborhood) while the east-west streets will remain open.  Fifth Avenue is a central corridor through the heart of Downtown San Diego. Tree-lined streets, seating areas, and attention to retail and restaurants will create a pedestrian-centric environment focusing less on car travel and more towards local and visitor experiences.
