The Village at Totem Lake Project Wins Governor’s Smart Communities Judges’ Merit Award

The Village at Totem Lake won the Governor’s Smart Communities “Judges’ Merit Award”, which was accepted by The City of Kirkland, Washington at their recent City Council meeting.

The Totem Lake business district is the largest district in the City of Kirkland. As part of the area’s revitalization, Carrier Johnson + CULTURE provided services for the redevelopment of the Totem Lake Upper Mall originally constructed in 1973, and consists of 89,595 square feet of commercial space (retail + cinema) and 650 residential units.

“The judges were extremely impressed with this project, noting that it is the ‘transformation of ‘70s era mall into transit-oriented mixed-use village,’ and a substantial joint public-private partnership investment project.” – Washington State Department of Commerce
