Carrier Johnson + CULTURE has been awarded the San Diego COTE Merit Award for the Pitzer College Residential Life Phase 2 project at this year’s AIA San Diego Design Awards.The AIA promotes design excellence, sustainability and social responsibility by recognizing projects that strengthen the overall power and scope of architecture, shape the built environment and enrich the human spirit.
Located in Claremont, CA, the Pitzer Residential Life Phase 2 project was designed with more than 40 sustainable features and best design practices that include an expansive 6,000 s.f. green roof and a high capacity gray water system. Aligned with student priorities, the design included increased number of suite-style room layouts, expanded venues to create and display student art and numerous courtyard art galleries. This project has achieved LEED Platinum certification, USGBC’s highest endorsement.
