UCI University Extension Building

Vision

Carrier Johnson + Culture was the Architect of Record working with LMN Architects and Hathaway Dinwiddie for the University Extension Building at UC Irvine, a campus with which our firm has a long history. This new building was created to become a the vibrant heart of the campus’s Extension Village, dedicated to graduate student learning opportunities. Interior spaces are organized around a central 6,150 SF courtyard shaded by a PV-integrated brise soleil.

The UNEX building marries modern interiors with expansive outdoor space that capitalizes on the campus’s natural setting . It provides vital programmatic spaces for students including:
– classrooms
– office space
– collaboration and communal spaces
– a coffee shop
– event spaces
– media facilities
