Vision

The proposed student housing and dining project at CSUSM is ingrained in the university’s mission of student success, social mobility, and innovation. Conceived as a “Campus of Connectivity,” the design integrates living, learning, and dining into an energetic, inclusive environment that encourages engagement, community, and well-being.

The residence halls are massed to align with existing campus housing, while the dining hall serves as a prominent gateway, linking the site to the main campus. Shared learning spaces, natural light, and thoughtfully designed outdoor areas promote academic collaboration, personal growth, and a strong sense of belonging.

Cultural landmarks, public art, and accessible landscapes further enrich the student experience, reinforcing identity and connection to place. Affordability is achieved through efficient design strategies, durable materials, and sustainable systems, ensuring a high-quality residential experience for students of all backgrounds.

Overall, the project creates an engaging and supportive environment where students can live, learn, and thrive—strengthening their path toward academic and personal success.
