Pitzer & Scripps College

Nucleus

Vision

Nucleus (previously Keck Science Center) is a 68,000 GSF science facility designed to support a joint academic and research partnership between Pitzer and Scripps Colleges. The project includes a new multi-disciplinary teaching lab wing with 14 modern labs and supporting spaces, and a phased renovation of the existing Keck Science Center to accommodate 37 faculty research labs, three additional teaching labs, and five general classrooms.

This comprehensive upgrade transforms the center into a collaborative academic hub that fosters interaction, flexibility, and innovation. Designed to enhance cross-campus learning and research, the project includes programming, architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture services, and responds to the evolving needs of STEM education in the liberal arts context.
