IQHQ Aventine West & East

Vision

This innovative campus concept re-imagined a high-profile La Jolla site through the adaptive reuse of an existing office tower, complemented by a new tower and multiple amenity structures. At its center, a communal plaza deck connects research professionals through shared open space, dining, and wellness programming. The campus is designed to support cutting edge life science research while embracing a holistic vision of collaboration, place-making, and long-term flexibility.

A key amenity building is designed in exposed mass timber, requiring advanced systems coordination to preserve the clarity of structure and architectural expression. CJ+C led entitlements, zoning, and permitting
coordination, and served as Executive Architect, supporting Payette’s vision while managing technical design, documentation, and consultant integration. This project required agility, transparency, and precision across a wide array of stakeholders and city agencies—attributes that reflect CJ+C’s strength in stewarding complex projects from early entitlement through execution.
