Remembering Michael…

Today marks the 2 year anniversary of when we lost our dear friend and our mentor, Michael Johnson.

Since 1995, Michael (partnered with Gordon Carrier) led the CJ+C team to deliver more than 300 projects and win 213 awards throughout 15 states. Locally, he was instrumental in transforming the skyline of downtown San Diego and left his innovative, passionate mark on many iconic buildings throughout our community. We are better for knowing Michael and live in a better place because of him.

“Our firm’s talent was blessed with Michael’s creative spirit, his constant drive to help all to success, and the wisdom shared from 40 years in the field of architecture. He is deeply missed, but his larger spirit continues to live on through our CULTURE and our work.” – Gordon R. Carrier, FAIA, Chairman of Carrier Johnson + CULTURE.

We are honored to have known him and continue to remember him on this day and always…

West Project Goes Vertical

Our $400M mixed-use Downtown San Diego project “West” with Holland Partner Group is rising above-grade! Once completed, it will consist of residential housing, office space, ground floor retail, parking and several outdoor amenity decks.

The development plan takes advantage of the opportunity to add significant density to the Civic Core, resulting in a mixture of uses that create a 24/7 “community” by bringing together residential, office, restaurant and retail uses, and further transforming the neighborhood.
