PLNU Chapel & Legacy International Center Awarded a LOOP Design Award

With over 350 entries from 42 countries, we are honored to be recognized by the LOOP Design Awards 2020, a respected award that represents the best of architecture worldwide.

*Point Loma Nazarene University Lyle and Grace Prescott Memorial Prayer Chapel was selected as one of the Category Winners for Religious and Spiritual Buildings. The chapel is an academic anchor of the campus and a physical reminder of their ideology. Simplicity with pure lines and forms were used as a means to capture the true essence of the space. Inspiration of the chapel design comes from the natural surroundings on site and the spiritual significance within the space.

*The Legacy Center San Diego was selected as an Honorable Mention in the same category. The project is a new destination for the world to experience. Major features of the Legacy International Center include biblically inspired gardens and architectural elements, including a domed pavilion featuring a technologically interactive International Museum containing historical biblical artifacts and exhibits, and a 100-seat 4-D history theater featuring the “Wings over Israel” – a full sensory ‘hang gliding’ tour of Israel. One of the design objectives of this project was to create a timeless, world class destination resort property.

The Link Featured in San Diego Business Journal

CJ + C will always rise to the challenge! Thank you, San Diego Business Journal for featuring The Link, a unique apartment complex designed by CJ+C helping those who were once homeless as well as low income individuals and families.

The Link is unique due to an earthquake fault line being identified after the initial design. The fault line did not stop the project; however, caused a shift of the overall layout. “We were starting with a raw block of material before sculpting it,” said Claudia Escala, Principal at CJ+C. “The building is very straight forward but it has this really striking shape, very attractive shape.”

Thank you to the organizer, Herman Miller. We look forward to next year!
