Plans to build the largest condominium complex in downtown San Diego’s history on the abandoned California Theatre site are moving forward thanks to a settlement between the developers Caydon Property Group and the preservation group Save Our Heritage Organization (SOHO).  The historic theater will undergo a reconstruction with careful consideration of preserving the look of the original exterior, as well as preserving as much of the lobby and original ornamentation as possible.  The 41-story condominium tower, currently being designed by Caydon Australia in partnership with Carrier Johnson, will include 444 residential units with approximately 7,445 SF of retail space as well as a dog park, gym and yoga area, lap pool, sky deck and a lounge on the top floor for residents.
